History of Mary Rosalie Swenson Christensen PART 4

Dear Family, My first thing today is "Thank you, Nathan and your three sons, Aiden, Asher, & Archer for letting me know how you liked my last blog and telling me you want to hear more. Now we will start with today's story.  I am going to back up a few years and talk about our family ,starting with the oldest to the youngest in the pictures that I am sending. This is a group of my mother's family .  It was taken in 1931 or 32 because that is me that my Mother, Vida is holding in her arms.  Daddy, Alfred Swenson is standing right back of them - looking down at them.  Uncle Gene is next to Alfred and behind Grandmother Fugal (I wish we could see her whole face.  Right in front of Grandmother is Aunt Genivieve.  To her right is Uncle John and to his right Aunt Anna. I must say "This is a very handsome family that knows how to have real fun and work hard, all in one day."  I can remember picking berries or peaches or cherries or corn in the morning....

  So now with the parade over with, my beautiful costume making a princess out of me, and the new challenge from Mr. Tregagle , which he said would help us understand more about how airplanes work and how to build them so that they would REALLY WORK.  And when I spoke to Joanne Elliot, my best friend, and asked her if she would like to be my partner in this assignment and we would make the most fantastic airplane in our class.  She agreed so quickly that I was thoroughly surprised that I jumped forward with a big hug for her and we immediately started our plans. First, we would need to get permission from her mother to build it at her house.  Second, we might need  her help.  Third, we WOULD need a little money to buy whatever we couldn't find in our homes.  She looked at us with an expression that said, Definitely "NO!"  But her words came out, "That is a perfect idea.  It will take a lot of diligent cooperation from all of us, including Ros...

  Yes, wonderful things began to happen when the principle came up to my 6th grade class room the next day with a big smile on his face. He asked my teacher if he could make an announcement.  Everyone in the room looked up from their work on their desks, their ears and eyes opened wide to hear what he had to say..."As you all know Parade Time is coming up soon and the school marching band will be marching in the parade.  So all of you who are in the "Marching Band" will be practicing to get ready to make your school proud of how well you do."  A big "Hooray!" went up from the class.  When the excitement had died down some the principle raised his hand for "quiet."  And after it was as quieted down so a whisper could almost be heard, he announced in a very important tone in his voice, " The Parent Teacher Staff of our school have announced their choice to be Drum-majorette."  The room fell quiet as a mouse.  "Mrs. Tregagle," he...
