Family Motto “ Thee lift me and I'll lift thee and we will ascend together.” “ Be happy. Let discouragement be a challenge, not a defeat /an opportunity & a privilege. June 25, 2017 Dear Family,  Here are the highlights of our week: The "Grow Boxes" are doing well as well as the volunteer lettuce.  The raspberries and strawberries are also bearing quite well.  We have bottled 12 quarts of cherry juice and 6 pints of strawberry jam as well as eating lots of fresh berries and cherries.  It is pleasant to sit on the patio and watch the sunset over the shed and as it sends its evening rays onto the mountain.                                                                                                    ...

June 18, 2017 Dear Family,           Our week started with going to the funeral for Wendell's brother, Donald Christensen in Salt Lake.  Jerusha was so sweet to drive for us.  This was an important thing for Grandpa (Wendell).  He had been worrying about his brothers and sisters for several days.  So this was a time for him to try to understand about them.  He mostly visited shortly with those who came up to him.  Because Jerusha was by him I could wander and visit with whomever I saw that I recognized.  This turned out to be a sweet experience for me which I hoped I could tell Wendell (Grandpa) about.         Jerusha also took us to see Uncle John.  He was not able to speak at all and I couldn't tell if he could ...

Family Motto “ Thee lift me and I'll lift thee and we will ascend together.” “ Be happy. Let discouragement be a challenge, not a defeat /an opportunity & a privilege. Dear Family, Today I just have a little story and a couple of thoughts. STORY: Grandpa & I had just walked in the door as we came home from a sweet temple session.  Grandpa sat on the edge of the bed looking through his wallet.  After a while he said, " I can't find my temple recommend."  We both looked everywhere we could think of that it might be.  No recommend.  So I called the temple and reported it missing.  They said they would check where ha had his locker and also watch for it to be turned in.  They would call if they found it.  No call came. We prayed about it together and on our own but still no luck in finding it or calling to check on it again at the temple all the next day.  We needed to have it for the sealing session we were going to go...

June 4, 2017 Dear Family, This has been a week of “growth.” Wendy, Nita, Jerusha and her crew of Brenden, Lindsey, David, Valentine, Grace and Patrick came on Monday to help us. They brought 21 frozen crock-pot dinners to put in our freezer so that I wouldn't have to cook so much – each packet contains enough for at least 4 meals per person so this yummy supply will last a long time. Jerusha and her crew did work in the house and yard.  Wendy and Nita took Grandpa and me to Pleasant Grove and Provo Cemetary to put flowers on the graves of our parents, our daughter Nita Leone, my sister, Arlene, and my Grandpa and Grandma Fugal. Dinner at Julie and Monte's before going to the Pleasant Grove Cemetary. Wendy & I also had meetings with the Military people to determine what ...

May 28, 2017 Dear Family, Here comes the sequel to last week's letter.  We left off where the Gro-Boxes were in place and ready to be filled with soil etc.  Mark uses fire to cut weed sheet Monday evening – I was fixing supper when I look out the window and what did I see? A great big truck driving around our back yard, squeezing between the tall pine tree and the garden fence. You guessed it. Someone was bringing the soil, weed liner, fertilizer & top soil to put in the grow-boxes. I watched in amazement how he manipulated that huge truck forward and backward to get it in line with the open end of the garden. Only then did I go out to let him know what a great job of wiggling into that small space. Kami Shuvels Mark was all smiles as he jumped out of the truck and grabbed the ...
