Image
Dear Family, My first thing today is "Thank you, Nathan and your three sons, Aiden, Asher, & Archer for letting me know how you liked my last blog and telling me you want to hear more. Now we will start with today's story.  I am going to back up a few years and talk about our family ,starting with the oldest to the youngest in the pictures that I am sending. This is a group of my mother's family .  It was taken in 1931 or 32 because that is me that my Mother, Vida is holding in her arms.  Daddy, Alfred Swenson is standing right back of them - looking down at them.  Uncle Gene is next to Alfred and behind Grandmother Fugal (I wish we could see her whole face.  Right in front of Grandmother is Aunt Genivieve.  To her right is Uncle John and to his right Aunt Anna. I must say "This is a very handsome family that knows how to have real fun and work hard, all in one day."  I can remember picking berries or peaches or cherries or corn in the morning....

So now with the parade over with, my beautiful costume making a princess out of me, and the new challenge from Mr. Tregagle , which he said would help us understand more about how airplanes work and how to build them so that they would REALLY WORK.  And when I spoke to Joanne Elliot, my best friend, and asked her if she would like to be my partner in this assignment and we would make the most fantastic airplane in our class.  She agreed so quickly that I was thoroughly surprised that I jumped forward with a big hug for her and we immediately started our plans. First, we would need to get permission from her mother to build it at her house.  Second, we might need  her help.  Third, we WOULD need a little money to buy whatever we couldn't find in our homes.  She looked at us with an expression that said, Definitely "NO!"  But her words came out, "That is a perfect idea.  It will take a lot of diligent cooperation from all of us, including Ros...

Yes, wonderful things began to happen when the principle came up to my 6th grade class room the next day with a big smile on his face. He asked my teacher if he could make an announcement.  Everyone in the room looked up from their work on their desks, their ears and eyes opened wide to hear what he had to say..."As you all know Parade Time is coming up soon and the school marching band will be marching in the parade.  So all of you who are in the "Marching Band" will be practicing to get ready to make your school proud of how well you do."  A big "Hooray!" went up from the class.  When the excitement had died down some the principle raised his hand for "quiet."  And after it was as quieted down so a whisper could almost be heard, he announced in a very important tone in his voice, " The Parent Teacher Staff of our school have announced their choice to be Drum-majorette."  The room fell quiet as a mouse.  "Mrs. Tregagle," he...

History of Mary Rosalie Swenson Christensen PART 1 - started August 25, 2020

Before I was born- This is part of my life because I was blessed to be the first daughter of Vida Leone Fugal and Arthur Alfred Swenson who were in the very early courtship part of their life.  They didn't know it yet, but I figured that was the case because they were always doing things together and they both loved music.  Alfred had actually made himself a violin out of a shoe box and violin strings when he was very young and learned to play.  And   after a while his sister bought him a small childs violin which he quickly learned to play anything his mind could hear.  This impressed Vida so much that she had been admiring him for a long time.  So when he asked her to go to this dance where he played his violin and he explained that he had rest times that they could use to dance together, she accepted.  It was a dance to remember forever. It did the trick.  Yes, he soon proposed to her as they sat in the love seat in her back yard.  ...

THINGS AREN'T ALWAYS LIKE THEY SEEM

April 25, 2020 I LOVE TO LOOK OUT MY WINDOW when the morning sun is shining in from the East. My neighbors lawns are all the same color of deep green; my Red Maple tree in front of my window sparkles red and green. The red being the frozen bud-lets of a late frost and the green being the healthy leaves that were smart enough to wait for Winter to grow into spring. And to my right out towards the road is my beautiful pink blossomed flowering peach tree wearing it's gorgeous pink dress. Yes I could spend all day enjoining this beautiful view. BUT I know that I have stacks and stacks of printed material that needs to be sorted and put in place (mostly in the garbage I think). And there are those important things like our Family letter to get off, prepare the story of Easter Falls for the sign to be put up near the falls, and more.... that will have to wait until ??? So I'm off to #1 with visions of the pictures of beauty out my window. This is our Flowering Peach...

HEAVENLY FATHER HELPED ME FIND A JOB AND MORE This day of February 29, 2020 we are going back in time to about 1983.  If you are ready and curious hop in our computer time machine and away we go. There I am walking down the street to visit Sister Walker, one one of the sisters in our ward.  This is one of my Favorite responsibilits as the Relief Society President.  She has been ill for some time and her husband is needing some kind of help for her. As I walk up the stone path to their front door a woman about my same age comes out the door and walks toward me.  We smile at each other and introduce ourselves.  "Hi, my name is Rosalie Christensen.  I am Sis. Walker's Relief Society President."      " Hi Rosalie, I am Mrs. Walker's care-giver from Social Services.  I see her once a week.  How long have you known her?"   About five years, I guess.  That was about the time I went back to school.  I just graduated ...

REVELATION UNDER THE TREE

REVELATION UNDER THE TREE - Tuesday February 18, 2020 There I was, sitting under the only tree I could see in the area I had been assigned by our stake Mutual leader in our early morning breakfast meeting.  You see, it was that time of the Summer that we had the opportunity to go to M.I.A. (Mutual Improvement Association) for the time of our lives.  We were all excited about all the fun we would have and we already had done some really neat games and training in how to administer help to someone who had been hurt.  Now this morning we were going to learn how to really communicate with Heavenly Father.  Sooo... The first thing was listening carefully for the instructions: "Go to a place anywhere in our camp area and pick out a spot where you can't see anyone and no one can see you.  Be sure to take your blanket, a pillow, a note book, pencil and your scriptures with you.  When you have found the spot spread your blanket out, put your scriptures, and the ...
