Dear Family,

Here comes the sequel to last week's letter. We left off where the Gro-Boxes were in place and ready to be filled with soil etc.

Monday evening – I was fixing supper when I look out the window and what did I see? A great big truck driving around our back yard, squeezing between the tall pine tree and the garden fence. You guessed it. Someone was bringing the soil, weed liner, fertilizer & top soil to put in the grow-boxes. I watched in amazement how he manipulated that huge truck forward and backward to get it in line with the open end of the garden. Only then did I go out to let him know what a great job of wiggling into that small space.

Mark was all smiles as he jumped out of the truck and grabbed the weed liner and started to lay it in place. I think he was as excited as I was to do this job as a great service to us. He had to cut the liner to fit. It came in a long roll. I expected him to pull out a knife to cut it, but he did it with a torch that melted the fabric quickly and soon that part of the job was done.

He started shoveling the the gravel, fertilizer mixture and soil that was in the truck. Soon Kami joined him. When the soil was all used up in the truck, however, they found that the boxes needed more. So the next day here came Mark & Kami with what was needed. He was almost through shoveling it and carrying it in bucket fulls when our Home Teachers came and helped finish up. YEA!!! Now it was ready to plant.

The only pay they all received from us was a dish of ice dream and a cookie and lots of “thanks.”

Now comes the next exciting part- when Jennie and her crew of Emily, Owen, Maylynn and River came on Friday to plant the seeds. What fun we had walking around those wonderful grow-boxes and planting without even stooping down. We got a regular planting team working together to get the seeds put in, covered with soil, marked and watered plus putting in the seeds along the two fences that were planted right in the soil at ground level. Then they had to be off for another appointment in Ogden, so their reward was only a cookie and a hug.

We are so grateful for this wonderful gift brought to us by such a loving family. Words are not great enough to express how we feel.

Grandpa and I are doing well. We go to therapy for him three days a week at the hospital where we both use the machines there. We go to the temple twice a week. We go to the Senior Center three times a month to attend a memory group. Then church on Sunday & choir practice later. So we are not being lazy. We also love it when we get visits from our family!!!

GRANDPA'S CORNER: It sounds like we have a busy time, thinks to Rosalie. She has many interesting thing for us to do in the yard, but we enjoy the help of many friends. We think about or family, and enjoy having them come to help us. The weather is getting more like the summer time. We get some rain at times which help things to grow. We hope all of you are doing well and be glad to have any of you visit us so we can see our family. If any of you need anything, let us know, Grandpa.
