Family Motto
Thee lift me and I'll lift thee and we will ascend together.”
Be happy. Let discouragement be a challenge, not a defeat; an opportunity & a privilege.”

Dear Family,
In between the 3 exercise sessions for the both of us at the hospital with Randy Rapp and two sessions at the temple, one initiatory and one endowment, we managed to do a few things in the yard.

The first part of the week we spent bottling pears. It turned out to be a lesson in how to not to do it and how to do it, how to find patience in the learning experience & how to recognize the blessings wrapped up in the experience.

We started out by juicing them and that netted us only 3 & ½ quarts out of a full juicer. We really need the juice more than the halves, but that was not really practical amount to be happy with.

But we didn't want to throw out the pulp so we tried the Victorio Strainer. But we couldn't get it put back together. So we looked in our gadgets stored under the stairs and found a grain grinder. It was not designed for wet things, but we were determined to find something that would do the trick and it did.

Here you see the gadget and the bags of frozen pure. This was after working from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. TIRED!!!

The next day we attacked the pears again and peeled six beautiful quarts of pears.

Feeling the cool temperature of the evening Grandma went out to the dahlia garden and brought in a lovely bouquet of large orange ones that had been kissed by a gentle frost – therefore the last dahlias of the Summer.

This afternoon, as I promised last week, we had our Baptism Celebration for Collin. We had a delicious dinner and then presented him with his gift. Here he is holding his locked bank with three slots to drop coins into three different compartments marked to pay his tithing, save for a mission, and spending money. He also got a pillow case for him to color with a picture and writing to remind him that he belongs to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. And that helps him to know that he is a Child of God.  We had a good time together putting coins in the right slots  which were for tithing, savings for a mission and spending money.

We enjoyed having the whole family here and finally remembered to take a family group picture of them: Back row- Taylor, Aubrey, Mark & Kami. Front row- Emery, Hailey & Collin. I took a movie of Taylor and Aubrey demonstrating some new dance movements they have invented and Hailey doing her jump. They are too long to put here, but they are REALLY FUN!!! Then there is the PRIZE one of Taylor with his most famous smile smashed against the window..

A few of my sweet Wendell's gems:
W: “Was I a good husband?” R: “Yes, sweetheart.” W: “Am I now 9(hopeful smile)?” R: “YES (BIG SMILE & HUG)”

Putting dishes in the dishwasher – W: “Sure beats washing them doesn't it?”

W: "I'm getting old."  R: "We all are."  W: Not as fast as I am."

After Mark's family was here: W: “It was fun having those kids here. That's what I like – watching our kids enjoy.”

Wendell tells me many times a day that he needs me and can't get along without me. Believe me, I need him! He teaches me many things – true love, patience, forgiveness, joy in the moment, determination to do my best, humility. And he joins me in working together - sometimes liking it and sometimes just because he loves me. He is still “My Knight in Shining Armor!”

That's all from me. Now it's Grandpa's turn to give his formal message. Love, Grandma

GRANDPA'S CORNER: As you can see we have been busy with the family and all of the other thing we do. We have still blend well in our body to do all the many things we need to do. We are feeling well, but it is harder to do some of the same things we have done for many years. We are still aware of the many things to, but it takes longer then it did many years ago.

We think of all of you and the help you given to us. WE love you and the fact our heath is good for now, it just takes more work do the things we have to do. We love all 0f you and pray we can do may things together. Grandpa.
