Dear Family,
The biggest news for this week is that Grandpa can now play three songs on his harmonica. When I was with him Saturday I handed him his harmonica as I was putting his newly laundered clothes away. Suddenly I heard the music of “Come, Come, Ye Saints” floating out of his harmonica. I was so pleased that he is getting so he can do that on his own.




 The next biggest news is that our Asparagus is doing really well. Since I planted it by seed it takes three years to be productive (edible). But anyway it is pretty. And the directions say that you may be able to harvest a few stocks the second year (smile – that is this year). Yea, we'll see.

Our Snow Ball bush is coming out beautifully now. Thanks to our neighbor's great pruning last fall.  Of course the Snow Ball is our favorite one and I know you know why!!!???  The Lilacs are beautiful and the red fruit bush that I can't remember the name of, but the people in Spain love the fruit from it as well as the flower.  The white weed at the base of it must love it too because it grows there every year.









Then there are the “wings.” You know, the ones I told you about before? Now I'm sure my theory about them is correct because: #1. when the first blossoms showed up on the tree they were tiny dark yellow.  If you look closely you can see a few by my foot.  Then #2. After the early frost they turned white and some of them blew off. They still looked like seeds. #3. After a few days new ones began to form on the tree and they turned out to be little wings - on my hand. Now more are forming on the tree and they look much larger.

So that's the fun part of our story this week.
The work part is that I have been busy getting financial things taken care of Grandpa's “Roll Over” that Thiokol set up for us to help with medical bills in out later years. It turns out that it will help a lot with the cost of The Gables. I'm not sure just how much yet. We are still working on that part of it. I still have some more application papers to get in. Of course there is always the normal regular business to take care of too.

 It all started when my Uncle Delbert called my parents on the phone to ask if he could bring his Marimbaphone to our house for a few months since he was painting some of the rooms in his house and he didn't want it to get all dusty.  Vida Swenson, my mom, turned to her husband, Alfred and asked him what he thought.  He quickly agreed to the  plan and within a couple of hours his marimbaphone was standing in our living room.  I watched my Dad play it several times and decided to ask him if I could play it too.  He was as excited as I was that I was asking to play this instrument.  So for several weeks he taught me some simple tunes.  Then one day he said, I think you are ready to play for parties, would you like that?  "Oh Yes!" Came my reply.  And that is what I did until my Uncle Delbert called to say he was ready to come and get his marimbaphone back. So much has happened the last couple of days that is important. So I guess I will begin with the one that is in my heart above all the others. I received this text message from my cousin, Pamela, late this afternoon: “ Dad died peacefully this afternoon. He received a blessing of love from his bishop last week and a visit of love from a former bishop this afternoon. It has been a reverent experience. Funeral Friday. “ This is my reply: “Thank you so very much for letting us know about Uncle John's passing. I'm glad we got to see him a few weeks ago and I'm also happy that he is now peaceful and happy. We are planning on coming down. Jerusha is going to bring us. Love you tons. BLESSED WITH HAPPY ENDINGS

TODAY'S STORY IS ABOUT HAPPY ENDINGS.  Here we see the happy ending to our whole day spent in the ER at the Brigham City Hospital.  I, Grandma Rosalie received a call early in the morning saying that Wendell had been taken there because he passed out sitting at the breakfast table.  Chris quickly took me there and we watched and prayed all day while they did all the tests they could give to determine the cause.  At one point I called our neighbor, Brother Peck to come and help Chris give Wendell a blessing.  Even though he was leaving in an hour to go out of town he came.  The blessing that Chris gave after Brother Peck anointed was a beautiful one of recovery.  I was surprised, but relieved.  And it seemed to me that it was soon after the blessing that he looked and responded to directions better.   After he was discharged with the diagnosis that they didn't know the cause, but to keep close checks on him. We headed for The gables....
