Weekend to remember

Weekend to remember: It began on February 17 with an 8:30 am. ride with Emily Royer to attend the blessing of little Willow Rose Allen, the daughter of Jennie and Bryce Allen.  We joined the family members at the the chapel where several were already gathered.  The blessing took place as planned with Bryce giving a very precious blessing and curly black haired Willow adding her loud message which must have been "Thank You."

After the meeting we all gathered at the Allen home where Jennie and her family helpers had prepared a delightful Brunch which was served to the adults upstairs and the children downstairs.  This made for a much more well organized visiting and playing time for everyone.

It was a wonderful time for me and I think for everyone in the upstairs category to share what was going on in our lives as we got reacquainted with those we hadn't seen for a long time.  I was amazed at how well Bryce's mom is doing.  And it was good to see her sons and their wives who I haven't seen for at least 2 years.  One of the couples has a new baby also which added to the celebrating.  One of the wives had a serious operation on her leg and is nursing it along wearing a special bandage and "walking boot."  She speaks Spanish very well.  The husbands  (brothers) loved to tease each other in joking ways.  And now and again a couple of the young children would come up for something and bring us little antics that were cute/ fun and precious.  Of course everyone wanted a chance to hold the babies.  And the topics of conversation were all over the place.

THE LADIES: Nita Royer with niece,  Gr. Peggy with May Lynn,
Gr. Grandma Christensen, Jennie Allen, Emily Royer with niece.
The one that was not was when Emily consented to show her art pieces from her College classes.  She has incredible prints and a wooden "tree" whose flat round "limbs" swing out to make cups to hold whatever one wants to put there.  She really gave us a great show.

When it was about time for me to leave Peggy organized the picture taking time for family pictures.  What a fun, funny time that was.  And believe it or not we managed to get pictures of each family even though some of the little ones were tired and fussy or bashful.

Peggy took me home to Brigham City and we went directly to see Wendell.  We had a short visit with him since he was very tired, but sweet never the less.  She got a couple of Marco Polo shots
of us before he was totally off to sleep.  Then we were on our way to my home where we had a
very short goodbye visit and she was on her way back to Jennies.  And I was on my way to a 2 hour nap.

In the evening Mark Dupree and three of his children came to help me.  Mark got my new printer, copier, fax & scan installed for me.  And also got my "Face Book" cancelled because it was hacked big time.

The fun part of their visit was how they enjoyed "Grandma's Museum."  You see, everything here at our home is VERY OLD.  They loved discovering the Military things that Wendell had stored in a couple of drawers in his roll top desk.  Everything from a switch-blade knife to his "dog tags."

Taylor also discovered our old cloths that have come back into style.  Taylor knew his class mates would be amazed if they could see him wearing them so he asked Mark to take his picture.  I took pictures of a couple of them shown here:  My sweater that I bought many years ago when I could hike and play in the snow.  It reminded me of the fall colors in the mountains.  Also my fur coat that I love to wear on special very cold occasions.

They all were amazed to hear my story about my  pioneer quilt when they saw it on my bed and learned that it took me 45 years to make.  Why it took so long is a story for another time.

These two pictures are now on my refrigerator side by side

Hailey expressed her desire to show me her artistic talent with letters, so she wrote my name as a beautiful picture.  I really appreciate that.  And  Maylynn Allen, from our Sunday get together, brought me a picture that she had made of a very interesting animal. I cherish those pictures with all my heart.

So that is all for today.  It truly was a Weekend to Remember. Love to all.  Gr. & Gr. Christensen
P.S. Thanks to Emily and Peggy for providing the Royer/Allen family pictures.  I didn't take a one.
