Why Celebrate Easter? 2021

April 1, 2021

I have one question for you: Talk to your inner self and ask why YOU celebrate Easter.  Please write it down for me and email it to me if you don't want it known by everyone.  Thank you so much!!!

This is the Easter Falls Memorial that we can see with our binoculars from our patio in the back.

Dear Family,

Today I have been thinking about the Easter day that we hiked up the mountain and saw the Easter Bunny hopping down the hill a little way from us.  At least we were sure it was because it was Easter time.  And besides that he was carrying something in his mouth that looked like an Easter Basket.  We watched where he went and decided to walk carefully and quietly to where he went.  He might still be there.  But if not maybe he left the Easter Basket there.  Raise your hand if you want to go there.  Almost all their hands went up so we decided it was worth a try,

"Walk as quietly as you can."  Grandpa whispered, and off we went - slowly and quietly.  After quite a while Grandpa said in a whisper, "I think this is the spot I saw him stop, lets look around & see if we can fine it.  But be very quiet so we don't scare him.   You could hear a pin drop as we carefully lifted branches to look under them.  Nothing.  Still we looked on until we heard a little rustle in the bush up the hill a ways and that little old rabbit took off like a shot of a gun.  We tried to catch up with him, but of course we couldn't, and, of course we shouldn't or we wouldn't be able to find him next year.

However, sure enough, right where we saw him stop, there was a big basket of goodies to fill up our hungry tummies.  And you probably will guess that the kids voted to do it again next year.

Now the years have come and gone without many hikes for Easter, however I know that you are all aware that we now have finished the goal of getting a wonderful Memory of that area with an Easter Falls Memorial.  Peggy and I have found that we can see it with our Binoculars from both patios and we can drive on the upper road to where we can see it in several places.  PLUS Peggy can walk up to see it on days when her walk time lets her do it.

What an adventure it has been for many in our community, and hopefully it will continue for many years.
