I was at the parade with my parents in Provo, Utah. Wendell was in California for Summer Camp for military training. It was hot and I do mean HOT, 114% F. I am sure that it is the day the news talks about now as being the hottest day ever in Utah until this year. Debby was born 10 days later so you might be able to imagine how glad I was to get back home where it was cooler. Dear Family, I want you to know that learning to be a “Blogger” has been a real challenge for me (Grandma) and I am still learning. So I hope you will not laugh too hard at my efforts. This week has been one of discovering what works and what doesn't work in our “grow box” garden. First of all the radishes do not last long in hot weather, so I pulled the “baked ones” up and replaced them with beet seeds. We had gotten quite a few of nice ones before the rest got “baked. And we got lots of lettuce for our salads from the volunteer lettuces that are growing in the ground next to the grow boxes. We are thrilled that the asparagus, broccoli and Kale are doing well. The raspberries gave us several nice pickings which we either devoured, shared with our neighbors...

Among our adventures was the Vivent Home Security man came to diagnose and get our system back into good working order. Our three visits with Randy at the hospital for Grandpa's therapy and getting the insurance straightened out with the hospital “Billing” lady. Taking samples of our strawberries to USU Department of Agriculture to find out what is causing them to have only a stem with the little leaf on it without a berry. Freeze some strawberries and bottle some raspberries. Beautiful raspberries. Grandma is overjoyed at her work. Made some birthday cards. Attend the three Memory Group meetings for Alzheimers patients and their care-givers. Supervising yard work. Meals and personal care for both of us. ...

June 25, 2017 Dear Family,  Here are the highlights of our week: The "Grow Boxes" are doing well as well as the volunteer lettuce.  The raspberries and strawberries are also bearing quite well.  We have bottled 12 quarts of cherry juice and 6 pints of strawberry jam as well as eating lots of fresh berries and cherries.  It is pleasant to sit on the patio and watch the sunset over the shed and as it sends its evening rays onto the mountain.                                                                                                    ...
