TOGETHER AGAIN FOR CHRISTMAS

Image
TOGETHER AGAIN FOR CHRISTMAS THE HAPPY FIVE, WENDY, DEBBY, CINDY, JULIE, PEGGY... PLUS MOTHER ROSALIE, BETTER KNOWN AS GRANDMA.  "Come and be happy with us!" is our call to all o f you." We believe in celebrating Christmas as long as we can.  So we start by getting our tree and the room decorated as soon as  possible. Debby was the lucky one to come the day before Peggy and Bruce left for their own family activities.  We missed them but we knew they would get back before the BIG DAY. The day Cincy arrived she began to do her favorite thing: since her first love is making rooms look perfect for their function.  So since the function of our living room at this time is to make Christmas as beautiful and Merry as possible.  Thus she started out by getting the lights put on to accent the size and shape of our several year old faithful tree.  I guess we could just call it "Old Faithful" as a Christmas name.      Now it was time to add the belo...

WE LOVE CHRISTMAS

Image
Christmas is love.  It is a time for remembering our Savior, Jesus Christ, the Son of God and his perfect love for us.  It is a time to perfect our love for Him, and to show it in every way possible.  How is that possible?  How is it possible?  Easy, by gathering as a family and singing, "When Families Get together."  Or some other song everyone loves. Here is Mark & Kami Dupree, Mike & Debby Dupree, Grandma Rosalie Christensen, Peter Leach, and Emery Dupree.  More of the family gathering  - Emery, Tommy Leach, almost hiding behind Emery, at the end of the table - Ben and Karen, his parents.  Then Mark and Kami again. Everyone is having such a good time as "food" always encourages!  Now we see Mark wearing Grandpa Wendell Christensen's  overcoat that he wore after he came home from his last Air Force Reserve assignment and signed up for work at Thiokol where he worked as a chemist and also flew military assignments for...

WE BELIEVE IN SANTA CLAUSE

Image
It all started when my Uncle Delbert called my parents on the phone to ask if he could bring his Merimbaphone to our house for a few months since he was painting some of the rooms in his house and he didn't want it to get all dusty.  Vida Swenson, my mom, turned to her husband, Alfred and asked him what he thought.  He quickly agreed to the  plan and within a couple of hours his marimbaphone was standing in our living room.  I watched my Dad play it several times and decided to ask him if I could play it too.  He was as excited as I was that I was asking to play this instrument.  So for several weeks he taught me some simple tunes.  Then one day he said, I think you are ready to play for parties, would you like that?  "Oh Yes!" Came my reply.  And that is what I did until my Uncle Delbert called to say he was ready to come and get his marimbaphone back. It was only a few minutes before he was there to pick it up. -----------------------------...

SPECIAL TIMES AND THINGS TO REMEMBER OVER THE YEARS

Image
It seems like only a little while, but when I count the years a few has turned into lots, at least 90.  How did I figure that out?  It was like this: One Sunday in church as I was bearing my Testimony I classified myself as one of the four centurions in the ward - three past bishops and one sister.  I thought I sensed some gasps of disbelief.  But I went calmly on with my testimony. After I got up and headed for Relief Society some of the sisters asked me what my birthday is. When I told them they said that I couldn't be 100 years old.  I was determined that I had figured it out correctly and said, I am sorry to say, rather hostilely, "you do the math then, and you will see."  Boy oh boy, how many times I have repented of that remark I cannot count.  But I hope that my Heavenly Father has forgiven me and that my friends have or will eventually. Sadness of Wendell's death, my health getting worse and worse until, even though I have become less and less ...
